Birkenstock sells in EU sizes only, in two widths – narrow and regular. The chart gives the foot length and width in mm for every size.

Your foot needs room: heel in the heel cup, toes clear of the front edge.
Choose narrow if your foot width falls in the narrow range – it also changes where the straps sit.
US sizes are given as ranges, e.g. '7–7½', because one EU size covers two US sizes.

What the brand says

Foot measurements in mm per EU size and width ('EU sizes and measurements (in mm)'). Birkenstock sells in EU sizes only; US equivalents come from its Size Conversion Chart (women 35-42, men 40-50; empty = not listed) and formula 'Women's: U.S. size + 31 = EU size; Men's: U.S. size + 33 = EU size'. Width: Regular for medium-to-wide feet (women C-D, men D-EE), Narrow for narrow-to-medium (women A-B, men B-C); 'Our Narrow width fits most women's feet.' Leave about 1/4 inch of space around the foot. Caution: Birkenstock's own US-site mm chart (https://www.birkenstock.com/us/fit-guide-size-chart.html) skips EU 37 and maps US '6-6.5' to 246-250 mm, contradicting its conversion chart; the EU chart is used here.

01Do Birkenstocks run big?

Sizes follow foot length in mm, and the footbed leaves room at the front. Look up your foot length in the chart rather than your usual shoe size.

02Narrow or regular width?

Measure your foot across the widest part and compare it with the 'Width from/to' columns.
